Economic Development through the Arts
Economic Development through the Arts
Arts Incubators LLC builds art projects - Detroit, Atlanta and most recently in Macon GA. But more fundamentally - we bring people together.
Our first facility, built from 2001 on the near west side of Detroit, was named best Arts Facility in the city by the Detroit Free Press, and then was awarded a "Cool Cities" grant by the Governor for our impact on the Woodbridge neighborhood. This facility was recently sold to a non-profit focused on providing grant-funding for other emerging non-profits.
Located at the junction of Warren Ave and Grand River on Detroit's near west side, this was the first project where we rented to a large non-profit, Architectural Salvage Warehouse of Detroit. We also rented space to multiple artists and art organizations. This property was sold to an investor who is continuing to improve the neighborhood and has added a restaurant and built a series of upscale "Quonset Hut" tiny houses called "North Point", fundamentally improving the neighborhood.
Derek Weaver, manager of the 4731 Grand River Arts Incubator, put together this effort which included 150 wall murals and which literally transformed Grand River Ave on Detroit's near west side. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, whose administration is focused on graffiti removal visited the site and tore up 20+ blight violations because of the progress made cleaning up Grand River. Two weeks later we earned a State of Michigan Beautification Award.
Starting in 2015, and with the help of our friends we transformed this demolition list property into an award-winning entertainment facility. Thanks to a client base that included Afropunk, P. Diddy's ATT - sponsored "REVOLT MEDIA", TI, Jermaine Dupree, Red Bull, Miller Beer, Brooklyn Brewing, 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, Adidas and others, we were voted "Best Event Venue" in Atlanta by Creative Loafing Magazine. Sold in 2020 to the creators of "God is Dope", this facility is now the area's largest employer.
Forbes Magazine says "Triangle Arts is a creative hub like no other. Spread across 4 acres in the Tybee neighborhood, this visionary multi-use complex champions diversity with the largest display of street art in Middle Georgia". Our newest space, this 4 acre, 16,000 sqft facility houses 5 buildings, 2 shipping containers, 14 artist studios and 2 galleries. For our efforts, we have received a "Creative Impact Award" from the Macon Arts Alliance and The Historic Macon Foundation's "Revitalization Award".
Street art painters, neighborhood kids, guys from drug rehab or prison, plus artists, dreamers and creatives - We are dedicated to a philosophy that preaches tolerance and inclusion and exploits the notion that diversity of thought, of background and of preference is our greatest asset.

We seek to revitalize neighborhoods by finding and improving undervalued properties, by leveraging the strength of the arts to increase familiarity and interest in these neighborhoods, and finally by providing opportunity and hope for the people living in these neighborhoods.
Our vision is for an organization that improves properties, increases the quality of life in the neighborhoods where we are located, and that provides respect, jobs and hope for the people that call these neighborhoods home.
